a local church decided to meet at the state house in downtown columbia, sc and protest sin, i suppose. now i openly admit that i am a believer but these people are appalling. they are ill-informed and full of hate towards the actual people and not the sin that they claim is the reason that america is doomed. anyway, my friends got together to show them just how ridiculous their signs were. and hopefully they get it. i don’t find my friends’ signs blasphemous. i think they are just proving the point that these people have no idea what they’re talking about and it’s pretty bold to claim that God hates anyone just because they do.

I think this style of protesting (the use of pointless or humorous signs) is far and away one of the best protests being used today. It’s a growing trend against hate rallies everywhere and it is brilliant in that it does exactly what it should: take attention away from the people who preach hate. The silly signs people hold up are no more blasphemous than someone proffering a sign that says “pray for more dead soldiers.” If that’s a message of God then what was that book I read in Sunday School? Because it definitely didn’t include that.
(although I don’t think God would choose Team Jacob. C’mon guys.)
